Before, nobody knew what a skatepark was. Now children are growing up having access to skateparks, coming and seeing skateboarding. We share boards with each other, we are a family and Addis Skatepark is like our home.

Addis Skatepark was Ethiopia’s first concrete skatepark, free of charge and open every day from sunrise to sunset. Located on the grounds of a youth-center, it was frequented every day by more than 50 youths. Since the opening of Addis Skatepark, skateboarding has been increasing in popularity all across Ethiopia. In November 2017, Ethiopia Skate constructed Hawassa Skatepark, Ethiopia's second public skatepark. Since 2024, Ethiopia Skate has received support from the local government and has since built more skateparks in Addis Ababa.

In February 2026, after completing renovational works requested by the youth-center, the skatepark was removed.
