Before, nobody knew what a skatepark was. Now children are growing up having access to skateparks, coming and seeing skateboarding. We share boards with each other, we are a family and Addis Skatepark is like our home.

Addis Skatepark is Ethiopia’s first concrete skatepark. It is free of charge and open every day from sunrise to sunset. Located on the grounds of a youth-center, it is frequented every day by more than 50 youths from the local neighborhood, providing them with access to play. Since the opening of Addis Skatepark, skateboarding has been increasing in popularity all across Ethiopia. In November 2017, Ethiopia Skate constructed Hawassa Skatepark, Ethiopia's second public skatepark.

Skate lessons and a loaner program for those without their own skateboarding gear take place every Friday afternoon from 4pm to 5:30pm. Girls only classes take place on Saturday mornings from 9am to 10:30am.
