In 2023, in Kiteezi (Kampala, Uganda), a group of young skateboarders led by Cynthia Kemigisha built their own 90m² DIY skatepark from scratch. Calling themselves the Climate Skaters, they skate in an area most affected by climate change. This reality became tragically clear after the 2024 Kiteezi landfill collapse, which devastated their neighborhood.

International volunteer builders alongside local youth have constructed a 450m² safe, free public skatepark. The Kiteezi Skatepark reaches 100+ young people every week, offering a safe and creative environment for youth development. It strengthens girls’ leadership in sport, environmental awareness, and community.
